There is no question that the two smartphones that have dominated the premium end of the smartphone market in 2012 are the Samsung Galaxy S3 and the iPhone 5. The Samsung handset was released back in May and enjoyed almost unrivaled attention up until the Apple phone was launched in October. New figures suggest that the Samsung device continues to hold the upper hand as far as consumers in the UK are concerned. 
uSwitch have released figures that show how various smartphones are performing in the UK market. These figures comprise of pre orders, sales and live search information and they show that for the seventh consecutive month the Samsung Galaxy S3 was number one in the UK. This may come as no great surprise as the model is regarded by many as the best smartphone ever released. Perhaps the most shocking aspect of these latest figures is that the new iPhone 5 did not even make second place on the list. This position was taken by the phones predecessor the iPhone 4S. Since the new iPhone was launched we have seen prices for the 4S reduced as it is no longer the premium device in the range. These prices are more attractive to the consumer and have helped to increase sales of this model in recent weeks.
The latest figures from uSwitch show that Android devices continue to dominate the UK market. If you ignore the iPhone 4S and 5 in second and third position respectively the rest of the chart is Android. In fourth position the Samsung Galaxy S2 continues to prove an extremely popular device and the new Nexus 4 handset from Google sit nicely in fifth position The rest of the chart is made up of devices from leading Android brands HTC, Samsung and Sony. The Samsung Galaxy S3 has wowed consumers with a great blend of eye catching design and great specification. In terms of operation speeds the device is one of the fastest around thanks to its quad core chipset while the large 4.8 inch Super AMOLED display is perfect for a multitude of tasks.
The iPhone 5 may have been impressing with its popularity since it was released but it has failed to knock the Samsung Galaxy S3 from the number one position.
